Delphian Catalytic Bead Sensor

A wire is coated with either glass or ceramic. It is then coated again with a catalyst. The coil is electrically heated until it reaches a temperature where it will burn the combustible hydrocarbon of interest. The heat released through combustion raises the temperature of the wire, which increases the wire’s resistance. This increased resistance is measured and correlated to the amount of combustible hydrocarbon.
