HAPSITE® ER Chemical Identification System

The HAPSITE® ER is a person-portable Gas Chromatograph/Quadrupole Mass Spectrometer (GC/MS) capable of identifying and quantifying volatile organic compounds (VOCs), toxic industrial chemicals (TICs), toxic industrial materials (TIMs), chemical warfare agents (CWAs), and select semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOCs). The HAPSITE ER can sample vapors directly in real time (MS only) or via an internal sample concentrator in GC/MS mode. The ER system has three sample introduction accessories: hand probe, TD tubes, and SPME. Mass spectra can be searched against the on-board NIST MS library and quantitative results of GC/MS data can be produced using the on-board target compound analysis software.

Known Interferents/Inhibitors
GC/MS is highly selective for volatile and semivolatile organic compounds when used by a skilled operator. Low false positive/negative rates for target analytes. False IDs are more likely for unknowns (nontargets) since GC retention times cannot be compared to reference RTs.
