DE-tector
DE-tector is a drugs and explosives detection instrument with a non radioactive ionization source and a unique twin-tube design that measures for drugs and explosives at the same time. Surfaces such as luggage, laptops and cargo packages, can be wiped using special glass fiber coated sampling strips and a strip holder. Dedicated software algorithms and a reference library provide automatic detection of explosives at trace concentrations (low ng range) on many different surfaces. Target molecules collected on sampling strips are desorbed thermally at 250°C for 9 s. Afterwards the evaporated molecules are ionized using a low energy photoionization source (XPI™)
